As artificial intelligence becomes increasingly integrated into education, much of the conversation has centred on efficiency — saving time on lesson planning, grading, and content creation. While these benefits are real, they represent only the first stage of AI integration. In this talk, Professor Korten argues that the true potential of AI lies not in doing things faster, but in helping both teachers and students think better. Drawing on practical classroom examples, the session introduces a three-level framework: AI for efficiency, AI for teaching enhancement, and AI for cognitive development.
