This day teaches you how to ask well, how to check what comes back, how to shape it for your actual students, and how to keep yourself and your class safe while doing it. No coding. The Premise
Why this day exists
Artificial intelligence has arrived in classrooms faster than the training to use it. Teachers are asked to be confident with tools nobody showed them how to use, while also managing students who are already using those same tools — sometimes well, often not.
This training closes both gaps in a single day. You will leave with real skill in getting good answers out of AI, a set of materials you built yourself and can teach from on Monday, and a clear, unpanicked understanding of the safety and privacy questions that matter.
The emphasis throughout is on judgement rather than tricks. Tools change every few months. Knowing how to interrogate a machine, spot a weak answer, and adapt output for a mixed-level class does not go out of date.
ESP
For ESP teachers
Specific-purpose teaching is where AI earns its place fastest. Producing authentic material for business, aviation, hospitality, engineering, or medical English has always been the slowest part of the job, and it is exactly the part AI can carry — provided you know how to direct it and how to check what it gives you.
Both are covered directly. Session 2 is built around verification and adaptation, which is the difference between usable ESP material and confident nonsense. Session 4 addresses the mixed-level reality of most specific-purpose groups, where a single class can hold a fluent engineer and a hesitant one.

Professor Christopher Korten has spent two years delivering AI and research training across the EPICUR European university alliance, alongside university teaching in Poland and teacher training programmes across Central Asia, Eastern Europe, and Latin America. His method is consistent wherever he teaches: language and structure before fluency, and practical output before theory.

Event organiser and co-host
Dr Dalwinder Kaur holds a PhD in Education from the University of Malaya and brings more than fifteen years in higher education across programme leadership, teacher education, and academic quality assurance. Her expertise spans TESL, curriculum design, and educational technology, with particular depth in open and distance learning for working adults — programme development, MQA accreditation, programme review, and assessment framework design. She has held an academic post at Guilin University of Electronic Technology in China and has delivered keynotes internationally. She is a certified HRD Corp trainer and a United Nations Youth Peace Ambassador.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to know anything about AI beforehand?
No. The day starts from zero and moves in order. Teachers already using AI casually will find the second half genuinely new.
Do I need to write code?
No. There is no coding in this training, at any point, in any session.
What do I need to bring?
A laptop, and a free account on at least one AI tool. Instructions will be sent before the event so you arrive ready to work rather than spending the first hour signing up.
Is this for general English or ESP teachers?
Both. The core method is the same, and the materials you build are your own — so an ESP trainer builds ESP material and a general English teacher builds general English material, in the same room, in the same sessions.
Is this for primary, secondary, or adult teachers?
All three. The materials you build are your own, for your own learners, so the level follows you.
Will the materials I make actually be usable?
That is the point of the day. Sessions 3 and 4 are working sessions, not demonstrations, so nobody leaves empty-handed.
